When Mojo Nixon released his immortal Elvis Is Everywhere back in 1987, he wasn't to know that he was actually writing about the audacious annual Parkes Elvis Festival, where Elvis literally is everywhere. The festival returns 6 - 10 January and the theme this time around is Presley's Mexican classic feature, 1963's Fun In Acapulco.
So if you're heading out to Parkes, you'll need to pack a sombrero. Headlining in 2016 is leading American tribute artist Donny Edwards, who will be putting on four concerts as part of the 2016 Clubs NSW Keno Feature Concert Series, showcasing the best of The King's '50s, '60s and '70s music.
For the first time in its 24-year history, Parkes Elvis Festival will also be staging a preliminary round of the 2016 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest, officially endorsed by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc, the winner to represent Parkes during the Semi Final round of the 2016 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis, USA, during 'Elvis Week' next August.
