Leading Piracy Opponent To Speak At ARIA Week

Frances Moore, Denis Handlin, Dan Rosen to speak

One of the world's biggest opponents of online piracy, Frances Moore, will speak at this year's ARIA Week Masterclass.

The CEO of the International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry [IFPI], Moore and her organisation have been staunch opponents of illegal downloading and they've often found themselves at odds with public opinion.

In the Federation's 2012 Investing In Music report Moore wrote, “There's no doubt about it, we have to win the hearts and minds of people on this. We're doing a lot on education and awareness on many, many programs… The message we're trying to bring across is, 'This isn't fighting the public, in fact what we're doing is we're trying to preserve an economy on the internet.”

Moore will deliver a keynote at the conference element of the Awards lead-in week, with the Masterlass also featuring keynotes from Denis Handlin, Chairman ARIA, Chairman & CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, Australia & New Zealand and President, Asia, and Dan Rosen, ARIA and PPCA CEO.

To-be-announced representatives from Billboard, Chugg Entertainment, DMG Radio, Eleven: A Music Compan, Hall Chadwick, IHeartRadio, MCM Entertainment, Nine Network, Rdio, Sony Music, Southern Cross Austereo, Telstra, The Daily Telegraph, Universal Music and Warner Music will speak on panels dealine with pop music, digital innovations and 'finding local to break global'.

Taking place at Bistro 80 at Sydney's The Star from 9am to 1.30pm, the Masterclass is an invite-only event to industry, students and media.
