Lady Sovereign let slip in a recent interview with Triple J that she will be in Australia for the 2009 Parklife Festival. Triple J's Scott Dooley asked if an Australian tour had been planned yet for this year - and got a suprisingly frank response!
LADY SOV - "There is ummm. Is it the Parklife festival?"
DOOLEY - "That's a scoop. I don't think you were meant to say that."
LADY SOV - "Oh well, there you go. I'll be at the Parklife festival and I'm looking forward to it because the last time I came to Australia I don't think I spent enough time there and I really loved it."
Lady Sovereign's new album Jigsaw gets released here in a couple of weeks. While speaking to Triple J she reported that it's a darker sounding release than her debut. She explained that she was feeling a lot of intense emotions while she was writing it. "I was in America a lot doing so much hard work. I didn't really get time to myself so I was really frustrated. I was tired. I was just feeling like I wasn't in control of mysefl anymore and y'know I got depressed and all that. And from depression comes anger and sadness and bitterness."
The Parklife festival usually fires up in September but dates for 2009 are yet to be released.
