Ladies & Gentleman, Please Meet Kosmogyr

2018 is the year of black metal. Case in point: Kosmogyr.

2018 is the year of black metal. Case in point: Kosmogyr.

Kosmogyr, a two-piece band whose name kinda sounds like one of the Eldritch bosses in Bloodborne, is the contemporary, second-wave black metal sound of two blackened lovers coming together from Shanghai and Prague; Chinese native Xander Cheng - guitars, bass - and Prague-based Ivan Belcic - vocals, drum programming. (I mean, if you do have a full-time drummer in your band, are you really a modern era black metal band?)

After having seen Mayhem live out here in Melbourne a couple weeks back, I've been itching for more black metal to tear into and along with that new Gvrlls tune, this Prague-by-way-of-Shanghai band's new record 'Eviternity' (which is due out March 9th), is also set to really scratch that itch deep. Hell, this upcoming record's first cut, the six-minute crusher of 'Quiescent' is doing that already for me by being both eerily melodic and punishingly heavy; hopefully indicative of what one can expect from the duo's larger 9-track LP.

Get some international black metal in your systems with the first taste of 'Eviternity' below:
