The winner of the 'Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal' ARIA for 2016 is the psychedelic rock King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's with their eighth studio album, 'Nonagon Infinity', which was released back in April via Flightless Records/Remote Control Records.
The Melbourne seven-piece band took out the win over the Meshuggah/Faith No More worshippers in Twelve Foot Ninja (who were my personal pick to win it, as they're an actual metal band with a damned good album) UNFD darlings, Hellions, scene/chart toppers The Amity Affliction (who I am genuinely surprised didn't win) and the kings of proverbial local heavy crop, Parkway Drive with 'Ire'.
But in any case, our congratulations go out to Stu Mackenzie and co!
Also, I am just gonna put this out there now: below is how you do not react to losing an ARIA, as it makes you look really fucking stupid and may make people think a whole lot less of your band's work, your latest album especially.

It also makes it all the sweeter that King Gizzard have to post about their ARIA win via social media, seemingly happy to let the other nominees, namely The Amity Affliction, have a little whinge.
You can suss out the rest of ARIA winners and losers as the case may be right here.
