Kim Kardashian has released a cover of the iconic Eartha Kitt Christmas classic Santa Baby, and with it, an unsettling music video that has some people online scratching their heads.

Produced by her brother-in-law Travis Barker, the cover sees Kardashian sing the lyrics of this beloved festive tune in a breathy whisper, a sensual touch to the saxophone and keys-backed production.

But it’s not the cover itself that has people confused all over the internet, but the music video that accompanies it. Directed by Nadia Lee Cohen – who has previously worked on music videos for Tyler, the Creator and A$AP Rocky – the video features Kardashian crawling through a house filled with interesting characters including men wrestling over money, models playing a game of Twister, carollers singing off-key in sunglasses, a bikini-clad woman swimming in a fish tank and Macaulay Culkin in a Santa costume, all while Kardashian’s rendition plays subtly in the background. The entire video is filmed via camcorder, with the abrupt cuts and static giving the video a chilling home video vibe.

One X-user called the video “nightmare fuel”, urging others to stop resharing it, with another user claiming the video is “one of the weirdest things you will ever watch”. However, Forbes praised the video for finding engagement through discomfort, detailing how the release is a “blueprint for breaking through today’s oversaturated landscape” and is “a bold statement about the power of reimagining classics through a modern, unhinged lens.”

Kardashian isn’t known as a musician, having only one prior release in 2011 called Jam (Turn It Up), which the celebrity said she regretted releasing. With her cover amassing over 360,000 views on YouTube in only 19 hours, it’s clear that whether you love it or loathe it, Kim’s Christmas mark has been stamped.
