Aussie troubadour Kim Churchill is hitting the road this week in support of his new album, It’s Lovely To Have You Here, released yesterday (11 October).

But the tour announcement arrives with a twist: the singer/songwriter is busking nationwide, some gigs played in the morning, and some in the evening. In total, he’ll perform in ten cities in six days.

“Ok here we go! Australia I'm busking all over the country this week celebrating my new album 'It's Lovely To Have You Here' which came out today,” Churchill wrote on social media yesterday. “Come and see me jam the new songs and grab an album to help me maybe somehow try and get the album into the charts.”

The tour began in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood last night and this morning. It will see Churchill play in Canberra tomorrow, followed by shows in Sydney, Adelaide, Brighton, Newcastle, Maitland, Brisbane, Byron Bay, and Perth. Of course, punters should be reminded that the busking times laid out in the poster below are approximate and could change.

It’s Lovely To Have You Here is Churchill’s seventh album, and it pays homage to all the people, memories, and stories that brought him to where he is today.

In a press statement, Churchill said the new album was inspired by years on the road, during which he’s had “one hell of an adventure.” While globetrotting and performing his music, Churchill wrote new songs that formed the album.

Discussing the title, he continued, “Whenever someone bought a record or came up to say hi, I’d always write or say the words ‘It’s Lovely To Have You Here’. I began to really like the expression. It also hit home because, after many solo years in the back of my van, I have found love and a new partner to share the journey with. It’s definitely a bit of an ode to our relationship and adventures as well.

“The album is also a loving thank you to all the beautiful musicians I have in my life who have played on this record and given the album its colour and body! I love ‘em, and I love making music with them.”

In addition to the busking tour, Churchill is embarking on an absolutely massive 50-plus-date Australian tour starting on Sunday, 29 December, at the Langley International Hotel. He’ll be touring the country for months, finishing up at The Triffid’s Beer Garden, Brisbane, on Sunday, 1 July 2025.
