Starting next month.
Perth artist Katy Steele is today dropping her new single Where's The Laughter, the first taste from her forthcoming debut solo album Human and to celebrate the release the singer has announced a string of headline shows around the country set to take place next month.
With the new LP slated for release on 21 October via Create/Control, Steele will prepare her fans for the new material with shows in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
Written and recorded by Steele in the basement studio of her childhood home, Where's The Laughter was also co-produced by fellow Perth native Matt Gio (San Cisco, Birds Of Tokyo).
"We started to experiment with making our own loops out of percussive layers like clicks, claps and things really started to change feel," Steele says of working with Gio.

"The songs started to feel real and human. We were heavily influenced by raw, organic sounding percussion and it really became a foundation for the record. I wanted to marry that element with my obsession with the voice and gospel choirs.
"There is a strength to this record which resides with a sense of empowerment. Letting go of the past and the simple pleasure of getting caught in the moment. Where’s the Laughter is about that innocent moment of letting yourself go. Finding the humor and finding the freedom of being present."
