Katy Perry has announced she will perform a free concert in rural Victoria next week for firefighters and their families.
Set to perform at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Final at the MCG on Sunday, the US singer will then head to Bright for the bushfire benefit, 'FIGHT ON', on Wednesday 11 March.
Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula confirmed today that the Andrews Labor Government worked with Perry to organise the event after she requested to reach out to people affected by the recent bushfires.
“As a native Southern Californian, I know firsthand the devastation of wildfire across my home communities, and was particularly heartbroken by the Australian bushfires," Perry said.
"Australia has always given me so much love and support so FIGHT ON is one way to return that love, and help provide a little bit of joy to a country that’s given me so much joy.”
