Aussie country-music mainstay Kasey Chambers has announced that her tenth studio full-length, Bittersweet, will hit stores at last on August 29.

Her first solo album in four years, Bittersweet finds Chambers in enduring, experimental form, aided in part by the fine production work of veteran desk-man Nick DiDia (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, The Wallflowers, Powderfinger, The Living End) at Byron Bay's renowned Studios 301.
Bittersweet, which the adored performer will launch at the forthcoming Gympie Music Muster, also marks Chambers' first outing without the comfort zone of her long-time producer, manager and brother Nash; “I wanted to have an experience making a record that I had never had before. I wanted to challenge myself and I wanted to be excited,” Chambers said in a statement of the new experience.

Featuring guest spots from the esteemed likes of ex-Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning, the renowned Dan Kelly, lightning-quick finger-picker Ashleigh Dallas, country trailblazer Bill Chambers and rhythm work from Declan Kelly, the deceptively robust long-player was tracked in a week earlier this year, but make no mistake – this is no hatchet job.

As can be heard on the Dallas-featuring first single Wheelbarrow, there is a consideration and expertise in Chambers' compositions – as you'd hope, at this advent of her career – and, as always, those thoughtful elements will serve her well when it comes to award season, a time of year the highest-awarded solo APRA songwriter in Australia is no stranger to by any stretch.

After the album's launch at the Gympie muster, Chambers will hit the road for three dates in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney – tickets go on sale tomorrow, July 1, via the venues.
