Kasey Chambers & Juanita Stein Join Australia's SXSW Cohort

Two more legendary musos bolster our local contingent for this year's event

Iconic country muso Kasey Chambers and indie-rock vet Juanita Stein — she of Howling Bells — have joined the Australian contingent of artists set to light it up at SXSW next month in Texas.

As the Austin Chronicle notes, the pair of locals have been signed up for the March mayhem along with a 150-strong cabal that includes the likes of Peanut Butter Wolf, Royal Teeth, White Denim and Crazy Town (yes, of Butterfly fame).

To be totally honest, we probably should have picked up on this one a little earlier, given that both Chambers and Stein were announced on the line-up for the dual Aussie BBQ showcases set for this year as part of Sounds Australia's annual efforts in bringing local tunes to the US and the world. They'll be flanked by the likes of Alex Lahey, All Our Exes Live In Texas, Cameron Avery, Gabriella Cohen, Koi Child, Oscar Key Sung, Sui Zhen, Thigh Master, Totally Mild, Hockey Dad, Food COurt, Slow Dancer, Starley, Vera Blue and plenty more.

The wider new group of SXSW artists form the eighth line-up announcement for the impending music and arts mecca, which is set to kick off — as always in the city of Austin — on 10 March.
