Few singer-songwriters have had the same impact as Gurrumul, and this weekend SBS and NITV will simulcast a music documentary that profiles the influential figure.
Titled Gurrumul, the documentary has been described as “a portrait of one of Australia’s most celebrated and important voices” and details “the struggles he and those closest to him faced in balancing that which mattered most to him and keeping the show on the road”.
Last year, the gripping film made history, becoming the seventh-highest grossing Australian documentary of all time.
Meanwhile, his posthumous and historic #1 album, Djarimirri (Child Of The Rainbow), was awarded the 2018 Australian Music Prize(AMP) and is currently nominated in three categories at this year’s AIR Awards.
Gurrumul will air 8:35pm this Sunday on SBS and NITV.
