One-woman play with added Croatian songs performed with a gypsy jazz ensemble

Written and directed by Sydney-based playwright and director Melita Rowston, Ljubičica - Wild Violet is a new one-woman play featuring actor and singer Josipa Draisma that takes the audience on a journey that draws on the childhood memories of Draisma's mother in her homeland Croatia.

Using Croatian songs performed with a gypsy jazz ensemble, Draisma tells the story of a Croatian girl growing up in a remote village who then undertakes the biggest adventure of her life in migrating to Australia and the subsequent longing for home all migrants experience.

Presented as part of the 2015 Sydney Fringe Festival at The Seymour Centre, Ljubičica - Wild Violet - the wild violets of Croatia a symbol of enduring hope and innocence - plays 17 - 19 Sep in the Sound Lounge, Seymour Centre.
