It’s an iconic house music tune and if there is one thing we need during the COVID-19 lockdown, it’s an uplifting moment. Musically, this delivers in spades. Arguably one of the best dance records ever made!
A new artist to the mighty Defected records who have continued to release so much music during this COVID crisis. This one’s been slowly building all year. Great house music production and a simple sweet female vocal that gets stuck in your head!
Well if you can’t do some self promotion now, when can you? I’ll leave this for you all to decide, but it’s my house music style cover version of the Liberty X R&B classic.
Probably my most requested song of the Saturday broadcast. This progressive trance classic from 1997 is so simple yet so effective. Maybe in these lockdown times it’s just that everyone agrees with the opening vocal line 'Hey let's go to the beach'!
Melbourne export Kaz was a regular at the iconic One Love club where I also played for many years. He then moved to Ibiza, London and now calls LA home (but let’s face it, he’s always on the move). His studio skills just keep delivering. Last year’s Through Your Love is still a favourite and this one delivers once again. Features the vocals of Ali Love. It’s a killer!
Both in its original form and the fantastic Jacques Lu Cont remix, this has been a regular in my Saturday show since it started. I love Gorgon City’s production and teamed with Sofi Tukker's catchy yet cool vocal. This one always gets it done!
What can we say about this track? It’s one of the all time great uplifting records. That moment three quarters of the way through that we all know and love where Sarah McLachlan’s vocal soars that lifts you up for the finish. Superb and timeless.
Whether it’s the cracking original, or Mell Hall’s slinky disco-fied remix, this one has been huge in 2020. Massive triple j support of the original first got this noticed and now it’s all over the pop chart as it has become so massive. A great track made by great people and they deserve all the success it brings.
A timeless classic that was made perfectly from day one (even though it’s been remixed many times). That bassline… fwaaarrr!!! House music at its best and a truly beautiful vocal.
Technically this started life last year, but the awesome MK remix gave it yet another surge. This is that track that you’ve heard lots but don’t know what it is. The vocal is recognisable from The Hunger Games and it works beautifully over the original progressive house feel and also MK’s piano driven remix.
