The rapper is alleged to have punched a security guard in the face
US rapper Joey Bada$$ has been charged with assaulting a security guard at Falls Festival Byron Bay over the weekend.
According to the ABC, the New York-based MC is alleged to have punched the guard in the face just before heading on stage at the Byron event to perform on Friday. The report said the security guard stopped the rapper prior to heading on stage as he thought Bada$$ was an unauthorised person. The incident left the guard with a broken nose and he was taken to hospital after it occurred.
Bada$$ was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and spent Friday in a Byron Bay police station. He was granted bail after appearing in Lismore Local Court the following day.
The controversy didn't seem to hinder the rest of the rapper's Aussie tour, with him appearing at Southbound over the weekend. He is set to play two headline shows during the week in Sydney and Melbourne alongside Run The Jewels and David Dallas.
