If you enjoy your heavy music in the proggy instrumental variety, then James Norbert Ivanyi's killer new single, 'Park Darkly, is for you.
'Pray Darkly' is the first song of a trio of songs - the other two being 'Malignant Inhabitants' and 'Terraform Diminution' - that will feature on the Sydney guitarists upcoming fourth solo EP, 'Denalavis'.
Written, recorded and arranged in Sydney, Australia during 2016 by the musicians at his own personal home studio, this fourth EP will be released independently June 1st, 2017. Of course, all of the guitars, bass, and keyboards were written and tracked by Ivanyi himself, and he also co-mixed and mastered it alongside David Horgan - who arranged and recorded the EP's drums. As you can see, Ivanyi has his hands in nearly all of the creative pies of this EP but considering that this solo project is his baby, that's unsurprising.

Thankfully, though, he hasn't fallen into the trappings of a doomed-to-fail vanity project, as 'Pray Darkly' is a truly grand, textured composition. Don't let the intro's Hammond organ fool you; this is a heavy, layered progressive ride that melds 80's progressive ideas, synths, all with tight shreds and modern metal ideals, and it's a ride that you should definitely take!
This forthcoming EP follows on from his previous three-track release - 2016's 'The Usurper' - and you can stream/watch 'Pray Darkly' below. You can also pre-order this new three-track release via Bandcamp here.
Ivanyi will also be playing a few shows in support of this expectedly sick new release - presented by Wild Things - this August. Tickets via Wild Things and the venues. Dates below, fam!
