Performed, recorded and produced in his Red Hill apartment
Acclaimed Australian traveller and troubadour Jack Carty has announced his new album, Home State, set for release on 5 August, along with dates for his Australian and New Zealand launch tour.
Home State, Carty's fourth album and sixth release in as many years, was created almost entirely in his small Red Hill apartment where he performed every instrument himself (except for the bass, which fell to longtime collaborator Gus Gardiner). The record was mixed by Jimi Maroudas (Kimbra, The Avalanches).
The past year saw the songwriter wed to his designer sweetheart, on the road with Darren Hanlon and Ingrid Michelson, and recognised with the biennial APRA Professional Development Award. He is currently partway through a solo tour of the UK/Europe, and will head to Spain to play Primavera Festival, before returning home for a massive national tour with Josh Pyke.
Carty will play Canberra's Street Theatre (19 Aug), Sydney's Newtown Social Club (20 Aug), Melbourne's Shebeen Bandroom (26 Aug), Adelaide's The Grace Emily (27 Aug), Fremantle's Mojo Bar (28 Aug) and Brisbane's The Milk Factory (2 Sept). Over in New Zealand, he will play Willington's Fringe Bar (9 Sept), Auckland's The Wine Cellar (10 Sept) and Te Amamutu's Walton Street (11 Sept). For tickets and more information, see here.
