"I'd just be going, if I was NRL entertainment... 'Let's just spend $3 million on Metallica.'"
OK, wait, hear us out.
Given that they're here around the time both events take place, who better to perform at the NRL or AFL grand final then Metallica?
Sure, the metal legends' stadium tour of the country doesn't actually kick off until 17 October which is a few weeks after both dates (NRL GF on 6 October and AFL GF on 28 September), but the Australian shows will be the band's first following their 20th anniversary S&M2 concerts on 6 and 8 September so there would be plenty of time to head our way nice and early.
Appearing on the latest episode of The Green Room with Neil Griffiths podcast, Phil Jamieson, who is no stranger to playing major sporting events in Australia, said recruiting Metallica for the events would be "a no-brainer".
"I'd just be going, if I was NRL entertainment... 'Let's just spend $3 million on Metallica.'"
The Grinspoon frontman added, "I think Metallica would be the get for either code, but I highly doubt that they could afford it."

Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo appeared on the podcast earlier this year to talk about the Australian tour, where he discussed attending his first AFL game.
"It would have been Australian Rules... it was the first time for [frontman James Hetfield] and I," Trujillo said.
"We had a blast."
The Music is awaiting comment from Live Nation and the AFL, while the NRL advised they will announce the grand final entertainment very soon.
So basically, what we're trying to say is... believe, people. As Jim Morrison said in Wayne's World 2, "If you book them, they will come".
