"I’m very much looking forward to returning to Melbourne next month."
Following reports yesterday that Sting was pretty much locked down for the AFL Grand Final, an official announcement has been made confirming the UK legend for the slot.
Rumours began circulating earlier this month that the Police frontman would play the event, joining Aussie talent Vance Joy and The Living End for the October 1 MCG event.
Sting will now headline the 2016 pre-game show, as confirmed during last night’s final between Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs, with the music icon saying it was “a great honour to be invited to perform at the biggest day in Australian sport”.
“I always have such an enjoyable time in Australia and I’m very much looking forward to returning to Melbourne next month," Sting said.
