The label founder and head of A&R died age 50.
A statement from Inertia Music on Saturday night has confirmed the death of label co-founder Justin Cosby, age 50.
"It is with profound sorrow that we announce Justin Cosby, loving partner, dedicated friend, inquisitive music lover, co-founder of Inertia Music and Director of A&R, passed away Friday," the statement read.
One of this country's all-time leading independent labels, Inertia Music was started by Cosby and Ashley Sellers in 2000. Since then Cosby played a major role in establishing many influential artists in this country including Sia, Bon Iver, Asgeir, Hockey Dad and more.
Inertia's statement continued, "His inexhaustible, enduring love of music and relationships he invested in, personal and professional, will be his legacy."
In recent years Inertia merged with global independent music group [PIAS], officially rebranding as [PIAS] Australia earlier this year.
Details regarding a memorial service will be issued by Inertia in the coming days.
