EYE ON THE CHARTS...

The power of Gurrumul's appearance on The Voice continues. The live version of his track Bayini (Skinnyfish/MGM) featuring Delta Goodrem & Musicians Of The Sydney Symphony claimed the top spot in the top twenty of AIR's singles/EP charts for independent labels with independent distribution.

Sheppard's self-titled EP (independent/MGM) was second and Flume's Holdin' On (Future Classic/independent) came in third. Short Stack's Diviney debuted at nineteen with his new EP Sex Games (Neon Church Records/independent).

The Cat Empire held onto the number one spot in the top 20 albums released on independent labels through independent distribution chart with Steal The Light (Two Shoes/Inertia). The big jumper this week though comes in the form of 90s rockers Baby Animals with their newy This Is Not The End (Social Family Records/independent). The band moved from seventeen to number two.

Johnny Taylor can celebrate a debut entry this week - his album Something To Say (independent/WJO) scored sixth position in the chart.

OTHER RELEASE NEWS...

Royston Vasie will release their debut album this week. Tanah Merah is available from Friday 14 June and the band have given us a taste of it with new track Inside. More.

Rockers Glass Towers will release their first full-length record on Friday 5 July. Halycon Days follows on from EPs What We Were, When We Were (2011) and Collarbone Jungle (2012). Read on.

Them Swoops have released a new single. Rollerskate is off their Glimmers EP, which they will launch this Saturday at the Northcote Social Club in Melbourne. Listen.

Apes are making big waves over in the UK, with influential DJ Zane Lowe playing the band's new single Helluva Time on BBC Radio 1.
