The inaugural event will be a massive two week celebration
The first ever City of Yarra Live Music Festival will be named the Leaps and Bounds Music Festival, in ode to the beloved Paul Kelly song of the same name, it was announced this morning.
This massive event is a true celebration of the city, and is set to take place from Friday 5 July to Sunday 21 July over 50 iconic venues, including the Corner Hotel and The Empress, as well as taking in special outdoor events at Stanley Street, a silent gig at Gertrude Street, with many more exciting and innovative performances to come.
To get spectators into the theme of 'Yarra', each precinct will have a focus for the day. Richmond will take the spotlight on Sunday July 7, Johnston Street on Friday 12 July and Smith Street on Thursday 18 July.
The event is proud to work in conjunction with two strategic partners - the indigenous community, who will host an outdoor barbeque event on Stanley Street as well as several indegenous acts throughout the festival, and the Gertrude Street Projection Festival, which is set to commence on Friday 19 July. From Friday 19 until the end of the Leaps and Bounds Festival, the two festival will run programs and events congruently, in support of each other.
