Ascendant alt-country songstress Imogen Clark is set to start 2016 on the right foot, following the revelation that the While Women Wait hit-maker has signed with esteemed label Lost Highway Records in the lead-up to the release of her debut studio full-length next year.

The new deal sees Clark join an ever-expanding roster of acclaimed Aussie artists under Lost Highway's purview, including Adam Eckersley Band, Mustered Courage, Ruby Boots, Catherine Britt and Shane Nicholson, and comes in the wake of a banner 12 months for the singer-songwriter, who kicked off 2015 with the unveiling of broadly acclaimed single While Women Wait. The track would go on to occupy comfortable space on the airwaves, charting on CMC here in Australia and consequently gaining traction over in the United States.

"When the opportunity to sign with Lost Highway came up, I was thrilled because of the label's amazing heritage and their commitment to nurturing songwriters in the alt-country genre," Clark said in a statement. "It's incredibly exciting to be joining a roster of artists who I greatly admire. I'm looking forward to joining the family."

In fact, Clark is feeling so celebratory that she'll be stepping in to join the line-up at tomorrow night's Lost Highway Presents: Country & Inner Western event at The Basement, in Sydney. The evening will boast live sets from Lachlan Bryan & The Wildes and Hussy Hicks as well as Clark, with doors set to open at 7pm.

With a live-performance history that has seen her share stages alongside the likes of Matt Corby, The McClymonts and Bill Chambers, as well as appearing at a handful of festivals including this year's Tamworth Country Music, Blue Mountains Folk, Sydney Blues & Roots and Vivid events — not to mention making the jaunt across to Nashville to hit the Americana Music Festival for the second time — it's little surprise that Clark was so keenly snapped up by Lost Highway as she looks to capitalise on her existing incredible momentum and make 2016 at least as successful as this year.

Tickets for Lost Highway's Country & Inner Western event tomorrow night are available now via Moshtix. Imogen Clark will release her debut album via Lost Highway/Universal Music in 2016.
