LISTEN: Gerard Way Unleashes Black Metal Vocals On New Track

So, a collaboration between a metal guy, an emo guy and a black metal guy ends up sounding like The Butterfly Effect meets Cradle of Filth? OK! But it's not who you would think on each of the parts? Weird.

More Gerard Way Gerard Way Profile

OK so I am not going to lie here. I listened to this track straight up and as the vocals began, I went ok, Yep, that's Matt Heafy from Trivium's voice on the clean singing. The track progresses in to some all-out black metal - fast-paced and harsh, shrill screaming - my reaction? That has to be Ihsahn on the black metal parts. Keen to hear Gerard Way, what an interesting person to include on this track, I wonder how it all fits together! Song progresses, Song ends. Where the FUCK is Gerard Way here?

From the Youtube comments of one Matt Heafy: "FYI. Gerard did all the screams on this song. Ihsahn is on the solo. Ihsahn’s family on the “whoa oh’s”. Yours truly on singing. Alex Bent on drums."

AHHHH WHAT? Gerard Way did all the screams on the song and Ihsahn just did the guitar solo. B O N K E R S. OK, so Gerard Way, vocalist of My Chemical Romance, leader of the Black Parade, writer of The Umbrella Academy, also DOES BLACK METAL VOCALS?

Apparently so. And it's gooood. So yeah, if you've got 9 or so minutes to spare, give this a spin.
