This is a great example of matching up a great song with a great music video for maximum effect. Seriously, it ain't hard , people!

Sydney's Hot Spoke is made up of bassist/vocalist Damian Enemark, lead vocalist/guitarist Ness Muir, and fellow guitarist Seb Bartels.

The new EP from this Aussie trio (I'm saying trio as there's no love for the drummer boy so far) is called 'Calm Down' and after hearing new single, 'Outlines', I'd say that that's a really fitting title for the release. If the general timbre and style of this new track is anything to go on, that is.

At first, you might think 'Yeah, cool, this is just yet another chill, lo-fi indie rock band'. But then holy fucking shit, out of nowhere this huge tremolo lead hits and the band ups their melodic game and the song goes from simply 'good' right up to 'great'. Sure, it's a simple tune, but it's a solid one at that, and it's perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon & evening. Really stick with this one if the first minute or so doesn't immediately grab your ears as you may just come around on it.

Also, the video features some quintessential Australian paddocks (filmed along the Shoalhaven River on the NSW South Coast) and the kind that rural bastards like myself have to see every goddamn day. Still, it beats living in the city, though, don't it?
