Lead singer of '70s soul band Hot Chocolate, Errol Brown, has died of liver cancer at age 71.

The late Brown passed in his home in the Bahamas, as stated by Brown's manager Phil Dale.

The statement from Dale noted that, "Errol Brown MBE passed away in The Bahamas this morning with his wife Ginette and daughters Colette and Leonie by his side."

"Errol was a lover of life and obviously music! I never went into his home, car or a hotel room without music playing.

"Errol was a gentle man and was a personal friend of mine who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him."

The British-Jamaican singer/songwriter was responsible for such hits as You Sexy Thing, Every 1's A Winner and Brother Louie, the latter of which you may know from the opening credits of comedian Louis C.K.'s sitcom, Louie.

Brown was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2003 for his services to popular music, and also received an Ivor Novello Award the following year for his exceptional contributions to British music.
