Hockey DadBy any measure, beloved local larrikins Hockey Dad have had a corker of a year — from a sold-out tour in June and their triumphant showcase at BIGSOUND to a ream of festival slots and their debut US appearances — so it's only fitting they'd want to end it with a bang.
To that end, the Windang-bred outfit are hitting the road from mid-next month for a spate of headline tour dates up and down the east coast of the country with good mates Skegss and The Pinheads. Hockey Dad will be embarking on the Aussie sojourn hot on the heels of their first shows over in America, where they're presently doing us proud at the annual CMJ event in New York City. It's not like they've been slouching about before that, either, having freshly knocked over a run of shows in support of newly Beck-ish indie-rockers The Jungle Giants.
This next run of shows, though, is all about the HD lads and their friends, and you can get in on the action at any of the planned gigs when the tour gets under way at Forster's Lakeside Tavern on Saturday 14 November. Further opportunities abound — the so-called Kooks & Spooks Tour makes its way through Newcastle (Grousehouse, 20 November), Sydney (The Lair, 21 November, lic/AA), Sussex Inlet (Sussex Inlet Tavern, 27 November), Moruya (Riverfest, 28 November), Merimbula (Lakeview Hotel, 29 November), Geelong (Barwon Club, 4 December), Mornington (Peninsula Surfriders Xmas Party, 5 December) and Collingwood (Gasometer, 6 December).
Though not an official part of the tour, they'll close out 2015 with a gig at Glenworth Valley's Lost Paradise festival, from 29-31 December, and kick off the new year at Tasmania's Party In The Paddock from 19-20 February 2016.
