"We have recently found ourselves with a severe rock‘n’roll deficit. This will not stand."
Swedish rockers The Hives are looking to reconnect with their Aussie fan base in 2021, today unveiling a live-streamed show tailored to fans Down Under.
The band’s The World's First World Wide Web World Tour will include six shows for six regions around the globe (live-streamed from a studio in Stockholm), with the Australian event kicking off from 9pm AEDT on January 28.
“Due to ‘circumstances’, we have recently found ourselves with a severe rock‘n’roll deficit. This will not stand,” the band said.
“We are itching to play with you rock‘n’rollers worldwide and we don’t want another ‘intimate live-stream’ in sweatpants from the living room. Virus or no virus, we are still in show business goddammit!
“We want to play to particular places and people, not just to a general ‘everybody’. We want to go on tour!
“So, The World’s First World Wide Web World Tour is born.”

Alongside fan favourites, it’s expected the band will perform new material and will also take song requests and calls from viewers, while reading out messages throughout the show.
The Hives’ last stint in Australia was back in 2015 when they toured in support of AC/DC.
