“Vinyl is forever."
Record Store Day 2021 is shaping up to be a hell of an event, with the announcement of Melbourne megastar Nai Palm as its newest ambassador.
The Hiatus Kaiyote vocalist and solo artist will act as an official spokesperson for the event, taking place across two days this June and July.
“Vinyl is forever. Record stores go hand in hand with the local music scene,” the singer said in her official statement on the role.
“Playing records is the sonic equivalent of nestling up to a fire. Warm and inviting. In an age of modern technology where you are in inundated with choice and playlists there’s something sacred about putting on a record and listening start to finish. It comforts the soul.
"I love going to Northside to see a performance and see people trickle out into the street like confetti. Stopping traffic for the love of music."
Palm joins the ranks of 2021 RSD ambassador alongside fellow Aussie representatives Hilltop Hoods, as well as international cohorts such as Fred Armisen and Noel Gallagher.
