"It's a 007 room so with the push of a button the windows black out and it really comes to life."

The upstairs venue at Agincourt Hotel in Sydney has taken a bit of a time-out recently to focus on itself — y'know, an Eat, Pray, Love type thing — and now it's back and cooler than ever.

The Valve Lounge is now re-opening as the sexy counterpart to the grunginess and good times of the Agincourt's Valve Bar and underground basement space.

Speaking to theMusic.com.au, Valve's Greg Nusinovitsch says the brand new Valve Lounge will be devoted to bass, trap, emcees and electronic music, all housed with a classy, lounge bar feel in hues of blue and copper.

"What we used to have in here was an enclosed smokers room, not much seating and a sort of half-way-house room that housed DJs as well as instrumental bands.

"What we did was we cleared the whole room out, got rid of the smokers room, we built booth seatings, [put in] multiple [TV] screens... We still have the signature humongous PA system and some very sophisticated laser lights. They're hidden — it's a 007 room so with the push of a button the windows black out and it really comes to life."

Designed with American bars and lounges in New York in mind, Nusinovitsch says he thought about the genres he wanted at Valve Lounge first before he asked himself "what could we have to suit it, what could work well with it".

"We’ve got a couple of dance parties this weekend — Friday, Saturday — and a launch of a huge new bass/trap night called Father. It’s starting on the 2nd July and every Saturday is gonna be a trap/bass sort of night."

Valve Lounge is also boasting a new menu. "[It's] very much Americana-inspired: ribs, chicken wings, a lot of different nibbles. [We've got] Brooklyn Brewery on tap, Coors beer on tap, so very much [inspired by] American, Southern states. Sports bar by day and Valve Lounge at night."
