Here's How Meredith Festival Will Be Safe From Scalpers This Year

After dropping its mouth-watering line-up for 2018 last week, Meredith has ensured it will be doing its part to deter scalpers from getting their hands on tickets. 

The Victorian festival has confirmed its application for this year's event to be declared protected under the Major Events Act was successful, meaning it is now an offence "to sell, advertise or offer to resell a Meredith ticket for more than 10% above its face value purchase price".

Individual offenders could also face fines of up to $96,714.

Other events also protected under the Major Events Act include the upcoming Harry Potter stage production in Melbourne and the 2018 AFL finals. 

Meredith has locked in a stack of big-name acts for the festival this December, including The Breeders, The Presets, Billy Bragg, Yaeji, Sampa The Great, Pond and many more.
