Hellions Receive ARIA Nomination For 'Opera Oblivia'

Today, Sydney's Hellions announced that they've been nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal album of 2016 with their latest release, 'Opera Oblivia'.

The band's bold third record, 'Opera Oblivia', was released earlier this year on July 29th through UNFD to much acclaim from the fans and critics alike. It showed a stronger pop-punk sensibility for the band, with larger melodic hooks, operatic moments, string sections, all while still being immensely honest and maintaining the band's groovy, hardcore tendencies. Killyourstereo.com writer, Nick Dominko, stated that the band's third record was "life-affirming, positive, and bloody catchy", giving it a score of 85/100. While I'd argue that 'Indian Summer' is the better release of their discography, I think that big kudos are in order for the boys in Hellions for this nomination, making all of the group's hard work and effort tasting that much sweeter, I'm sure.

Also, in going over the other nominations, there are of course all the usual mainstream pop artists getting the usual mentions, (the motherfucking Wiggles are in there, for Christ's sake). However, as far as the category for rock/heavy music goes for the 30th ARIA Awards, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Parkway Drive, Violent Soho, Twelve Foot Ninja, and of course, our old pals The Amity Affliction are all included in this year's nominations. The ARIA Awards ceremony will be going down at The Star in Sydney on November 23rd.
