Eora-based music group Heart Armour has officially introduced themselves in the form of their spellbinding debut track White Flag. Suppose you’ve been amongst the Sydney live music scene over the past year. In that case, you may have come across members Kashif, Zac & Jenny in passing, whether showing out for their peers scattered throughout Sydney’s many underground music circles, or sharing stages with the likes of California Girls, mel.wav, Shoeb Ahmad and playing to crowds at Parramatta Lanes and Lazy Thinking or for Jam For Justice. Nevertheless, Heart Armour is no stranger to Sydney’s exciting and ever-expanding creative circuits, securing a spot on the city’s music radar heavily over the past year.

The members of Heart Armour first came together through a culmination of ideas and discussions they’d shared over the last two years. Intending to create music that pushes the boundaries and openly experiments with sound, Heart Armour have curated a delicate debut track that draws on the rawness and emotional authenticity of classic R&B, simultaneously making you sweat from the first listen.

Speaking on the essence of White Flag, the band details that the song sees "emotions melt together and genres blur in the heat and pressure of summer”, mixing club-heavy drums, whimsical vocal melodies, and melancholic yet hopeful lyricism that speak to the tastes and creative journey of each member.

Jenny (who also goes by the stage name Wytchings) traverses a field of ethereal textures with her experience and solo ventures into dreamy, spacey, ambient sound. Writing together with Kashif, the two develop narratives that touch on themes of grief, love and self-reflection. With added layers of guitar melodies and chords helmed by Kashif, Kashif almost acts as the mediator in the track, balancing the track’s density with soulful vocals. Tying it all together, Zac utilises sample manipulation and synthesis techniques to create drum patterns and form the instrumental. With each artist’s individualistic touch, White Flag is an exhilarating launch of Heart Armour to the world.
