Look, if 'Euphoria' is anything to go on, then the rest of Health's 'Disco 3' is going to be fucking otherworldy!

Health are a very interesting band.
What started out as a weird, experimental noise-rock band has morphed over the years into a whole other beast entirely; a melancholic electro-pop band delivering deep, darkened soundscapes full of raw synths, over-effected guitars and loops, reverberant cinematic effects, and booming acoustic/electronic percussion all backing up the haunting, detached vocals and lyrics. All with a few hints of post-rock no less.

So yes, Health are a very odd band and are one who has indeed found their niche within the music industry. They're also a fucking awesome band; something they've proved even more so with their latest single, 'Euphoria'.
First of all, the melancholic, dark, synth-pop song's title makes you feel, in a rather weird juxtaposition, just that - euphoria.
But what makes this song and it's lighting fast edited film clip (directed by John Famiglietti and edited by James kid) all the more goddamn bittersweet is the fact that longtime member Jupiter Keyes (pictured right) is sadly no longer part of the band. This makes the film clip's mixture of previous music video footage spliced together with visuals from live shows across their career - all featuring Keyes - all the more emotionally affecting. Especially with those chest-churning samples at the end coupled with a shrill, primal scream and the vastly pleading nature of the song's retrospective lyrics of "Euphoria/Don't leave me/Euphoria/Don't Lie To Me'. It's powerful stuff.
Keyes reportedly exited the band in late 2015 and has since been working with former Crystal Castles singer, Alice Glass, on new music for her next album. There is also apparently no bad blood between Keyes and the rest of the Health, which is good to hear for a fan such as myself. However, this does make me cautious about where their music will go next, and that's even if new music comes from the group after this. I, at least, sincerely hope they continue on as 2015's 'Death Magic' is an album that is very close to my heart.
You can stream/watch the sheer experience that is 'Euphoria' below. It's something truly special.
'Disco 3' is out now via Apple Music and Spotify (no, Bandcamp sadly), and it features remixes from Purity Ring, Preoccupations, and Vessel, along with three brand new songs.
You will love each other.
