Scott Fitzsimons will finish up this week.
TheMusic.com.au’s Editor and Head Of Digital Scott Fitzsimons will depart the company this week.
Currently overseeing the digital elements of the business – including theMusic.com.au, The Music App and daily newsletter Your Daily SPA – as well as the annual AMID Power 50 industry power rankings, Fitzsimons has taken up a role in the whisky and alcohol industry.
His final day will be Friday 13 March.
Fitzsimons first began with Street Press Australia with Sydney street paper The Drum Media before becoming the national industry reporter and then launching Your Daily SPA, which in turn evolved into the full-format theMusic.com.au website.
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
“It's the end of an era for theMusic digital platforms – Scott was an integral part of the creation of our newsletter and site,” Group Managing Editor Andrew Mast said today. “He has been a driving force in making theMusic one of the country's top ten music sites.”
Managing Director Craig Treweek added, “Scott has been an incredible member of The Music team and has been vital as we have managed the transition from magazines to digital, alongside being an integral part of the music industry scene. I have no doubt that we will miss him but suspect that the music industry has lost one of its brightest young stars.
“We will have a new staff appointment to announce by the end of the month.”
Another to pay tribute to ten years of service was Marketing Director Leigh Treweek, who described Fitzsimons as a “Fucking Sydney Swans bandwagoning wanker. And who the fuck thought he was old enough to drink? I always thought that moustache was fake and stuck on.
“Can’t wait to read about the top 50 most influential whisky drinkers.”
Mast will now be the main point of contact for theMusic.com.au and Your Daily SPA.
