“I feel like I’m rebooting from scratch.”
Brisbane pop favourite Hatchie - aka Harriette Pilbeam – has today announced the release of her second album, Giving The World Away, set to drop on April 22 via Ivy League Records.
Expected to be Hatchie’s most thunderous work yet, the upcoming album steers her signature shimmering dream-pop into new, moodier territories.
Diving right into the revelations of young adulthood and the crushing weight of self-imposed expectations, Giving The World Away lyrically turns a new page for Hatchie as she firmly reclaims her own narrative.
“This album really just feels like the beginning to me and scratching the surface – and even though it’s my third release as Hatchie, I feel like I’m rebooting from scratch,” she said.
To celebrate the announcement, Hatchie also releases her new single set to feature on the album, Quicksand, co-written by Dan Nigro (the GRAMMY-nominated co-writer of Olivia Rodrigo’s worldwide smash driver’s license).
The supercharged, bitter-sweet track is accompanied by a deliciously iridescent film clip directed by Nathan Castiel (Remi Wolf, Ashe).

“I created a video that plays off of some tropes of Hollywood glamour in a melancholy and surreal way while giving Harriette room to perform and express the song's raw emotions,” explained Castiel.
Hatchie’s East Coast tour kicks off in Sydney on February 10, followed by her appearance at The Long Sunset festival before wrapping things up in Brisbane and Melbourne.
