Gum Ball Confirms It Won't Go Ahead In 2015

But the break will only be temporary

Hunter Valley event The Gum Ball has confirmed that it will not be held in 2015, after organisers hinted that such a hiatus would be likely as recently as back in May.

Matt 'Magpie' Johnston, who with fiancee Jess has been behind the annual Gum Ball in Dashville since its inception ten years ago, made the news official in a statement that clarified the event's reasons for not proceeding in 2015; however, he has already hinted that it will indeed return for 2016.

"It's been a big ten years building and we're far from over, we just plan to take some time early next year to refresh, plan a further Dashville event, get married, travel, perhaps even record an album ourselves," Johnston said in a statement.

Despite the absence of The Gum Ball, however, the Dashville calendar is nonetheless not without make-up events; a special Rolling Stones tribute concert, Dashville On Main Street, featuring the renowned Dashville Progress Society (and yet-to-be-announced supports) will be held on Friday, November 14 — the day before the actual Rolling Stones hit Hope Estate vineyard.

"When the biggest band in the world comes to town, it's only right to throw a 'party'," Johnston said.

Fellow Dashville event PigSty In July — something akin to a half-sized, 18+-only Gum Ball — remains unaffected by the change, getting cosy in the Hunter surrounds on July 4 next year, with a weekend event in the works for the ensuing October.
