Western Sydney breakout artist Grentperez has announced his long-awaited debut album Backflips In a Restaurant today with the release of the album’s third single Dandelion featuring fellow Australian singer-songwriter Ruel.

Dandelion follows up Grent’s catchy crowd favourite Fuzzy Feeling with Benny Sings and the eccentric 2DK, showcasing a sonic evolution for the artist as he enters a new chapter in his music journey. Released via Fast Friends and AWAL, Dandelion is a memorable collaboration for these two heavy hitters whose harmonies fit together like milk and honey. At Grent’s recent shows supporting American alternative rock band Wallows around Australia, the artist treated fans to an early listen of Dandelion, performing the track live with Ruel in Sydney.

Backflips In a Restaurant marks Grentperez’s first LP after the release of his metamorphic 2023 EP When We Were Younger. Maintaining the artist’s signature charm and knack for melodic love lullabies, Backflips In a Restaurant sees Grent venture into unknown territories, approaching the LP with an openness to genre exploration. Throughout, listeners can expect to grasp onto elements of R&B, indie-folk, pop-punk, symphonic pop, 70s soft rock and much more, packaged into 13 anthemic bangers that call on a newly explored vocal range from the artist.

Explaining the significance of the album to his journey, Grentperez said in a press release: "Backflips in a Restaurant is a taste of what's to come in my artistry. I wanted to use this album to express who I am as an artist and a creator, what I have to offer in terms of differing genres and in this case; flavour,”

“Growing up, I soaked up a lot of music from 70s soft rock, to 2000s R&B, Bossa Nova, Indie, Rap, etc... This music effectively influenced my music making, and since my first release in 2021,  I've been itching to explore and experiment with my sound. As a creative, I believe my job is to constantly explore and express myself, and with Backflips in a Restaurant I'm taking the steps to do just that.”

Presave for Backflips in a Restaurant is available now here. The album officially releases on March 28th, 2025. Watch the music video for Dandelion featuring Ruel below.
