A conference that aims to bring together the regional and inner city music communities of Victoria and foster a more collaborative and tight-knit industry overall.
Gold Sounds Music Conference, held by Music Victoria, is back for its second year in 2022, running from October 13-16. The conference will be held on Djarra Country in the centre of Castlemaine and aims to bring together the regional and inner city music communities of Victoria and foster a more collaborative and tight-knit industry overall.
Last year's inaugural event was a huge success, winning the Mount Alexander Shire Council Community Event of the Year, despite being held just as Melbourne emerged from lockdown. It also featured keynote speeches by industry heavyweights Jen Cloher and Liz Stringer alongside workshops run by two of the region’s biggest stars, Dallas Woods and Jess Ribeiro.
This year's conference is gearing up to be just as good with the talented Fionna Allen leading the programming. The conference is also continuing its collaboration with APRA AMCOS, Australia Council for the Arts, Community Media Training Organisation, FReeZA, Music Victoria, Regional Arts Victoria, Support Act and more. This year's sessions will cover topics including:
Music & Identity
Touring - Regional & Beyond
Festival Programming
Working in Creative Teams
Music & Activism
Copyright & Licensing
Songwriters in Conversation
Grants & Funding
Breaking Down the Barriers
In addition to the incredible guest speakers and panels organised for the event, there will also be more practical sessions prioritised this year, such as in-depth songwriting workshops and music interview training, to help give industry professionals a further chance to collaborate, network and share knowledge.
