Gold Coast Band Prepared Like A Bride Have Broken Up

Almost six years after the members of Gold Coast-based prog/metalcore outfit Prepared Like A Bride came together, the band is calling it quits.

The stalwart four-piece made the announcement on their Facebook Wall this morning, only a handful of days after releasing a new single, Soul Of The World — itself a swift follow-up to April EP Overcomer. Despite the period of heightened activity of late — in fact, possibly even because of it — the band expressed their desire to pull up stumps while they were still riding high.

"It's been an incredible ride that's taken us all over the world and now after nearly 6 years we, Prepared Like A Bride, have decided to call it a day," the band wrote in their farewell message.

"The opportunities that have come our way over the course of this journey have truly blessed us and we want to thank you for the love and support you've shown us. Thank you to our families, friends, previous members, our team and of course you guys, our fans."

"We wanted to leave the game on a high and present you with one final tale … so thank you for listening and to everyone who's spoken so highly of our single we released a week ago, Soul Of The World," they continued. "This week, listen in to triple j's Short.Fast.Loud (Wednesday night from 9pm) to hear Ryan chat with Josh about the band and all things PLAB.

"Finally, we hope you continue dreaming and achieving on your journey, wherever you are in the world and wherever you are in life right now. You're a treasure, you're an overcomer and you are the soul of the world!"

The faithful needn't be totally consumed by despair right now, however, as Prepared Like A Bride do have a handful of shows left up their sleeves before they properly call it a day — they hit Brisbane's Brightside this Thursday, 14 May and, over the consequent weekends, play in Sydney (MMRS, 18+) and Melbourne (Bang!, 18+; Wrangler, all ages).
