Christopher Owens, (songwriter and lead vocalist) of Californian band Girls, has announced via Twitter that he is leaving the outfit, stating that his reasons are 'personal' and that the decision was 'not easy to make'.

Girls were last in Australia for the St. Jerome's Laneway Festival in 2012. They've released two records, Album in 2009 and Father, Son, Holy Ghost in 2011.
