Girl And Girl Release Quirky New Single, ‘The Cow’
They've also dropped the accompanying line-dancing-filled lyric video.

Brisbane-based garage-rock four-piece Girl and Girl have dropped a new single and lyric video today (October 17), titled The Cow. Packed with bold riffs, comedy, and high energy, this new track plays right into the band’s strengths.
But it’s the offbeat self awareness in the lyrics that really makes The Cow unique. “All my friends call me ‘The Cow!’ Not really, but sometimes I think they should, because sometimes I let my cow brain speak louder than my cow heart, and of all of your cow parts, you should listen most to your cow heart,” frontman Kai James sings.
The accompanying lyric video matches the song’s quirky energy perfectly. The audience is brought into what seems to be a Zoom call between James and Jenna Million, host of the Name 3 Songs podcast, as they try to line dance. Cuts of the pair laughing, dancing, and being plain silly fill the video, as lyrics about love flash across the bottom of the screen.
Fair warning, the words “The Cow” are, at some points, spelt on screen by weird, disconnected, floating legs. It’s nothing disturbing, mostly just off-putting - a concept that has become a staple in Girl and Girl videos.
The release of The Cow comes after a mammoth year for Girl and Girl. Fresh off the back of releasing their debut album, Call A Doctor - which is currently in the running for The Triffid’s QLD Album of the Year - the band only recently concluded their tour of Europe. They also supported Royel Otis on their sold-out 20-date run of the US earlier this year.

But the touring doesn’t stop there. Girl and Girl are about to embark on another headline tour along the East Coast of Australia, before hitting up Laneway 2025.
