Just a month after announcing it would be closing its doors, it has been announced that Sydney's Giant Dwarf Theatre will reopen at a new space down the road this month.
The famous theatre, which has hosted performances from names like Tim Minchin, Wil Anderson, Sarah Blasko and Kasey Chambers, will move from 199 Cleveland Street to 280 Cleveland Street and will officially open on 20 March.
“This lease is a lifeline for Giant Dwarf Theatre,” co-founders Nikita Agzarian and Julian Morrow said.
“We thought we’d have to close forever, but now we’ve got a few months to try and keep GD alive as a supportive home for comedy, music, storytelling, theatre, podcasting - and all sorts of new and exciting content - in Sydney.”
The new space will continue hosting jazz and other music events, as well as continue the tradition nurtured by Venue 505 operators Kerri Glasscock and Cameron Undy over the last decade.
