To put a pep in your step.

If you like funk, jazz, swing, and associated genres, keep an eye on the Spotted Mallard line-up.

First off, see Catfish performing their jazz, manouche swing and rock'n'roll tunes on 13 Jan. They go from highly arrange to highly improvised so you never know what you're gonna get; but whatever it is, it's energetic.

Then 14 Jan, Jack Earle Big Band (all 18 members of them) will be cramming onto the stage to present some brand new compositions. Leader Jack Earle's been studying at Berklee College of Music in the US for three months and is excited to share his new tunes.

Funk Buddies will be at Spotted Mallard for a three-week Sunday arvo residency this month, bringing their blend of New Orleans street music and funk to the stage on 17, 24 and 31 Jan.
