The Government-funded Sound Summit conference has been forced to move from Newcastle to Sydney in 2013 as the nature of their funding changes.
“This has forced Sound Summit to rethink its financial sustainability and its position as a festival to be able to continue to provide distinctive, challenging and engaging content,” Co-Directors Daniel Gottlieb, Nic Warnock and Liza Harvey wrote on the event's website.
The festival, which has traditionally focused on niche and experimental genres, is also expected to encompass a wider range of topics this year to offer a more “relevant and important” dialogue to the industry.
The event will take place from Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 November, with first call out for applications to happen Tuesday 21 May.
The summit has indicated that it will continue to change in the coming two years, with 2013 being the catalyst year.
