Suitcase markets, free popcorn and live music.

Starting this week, locals and visitors to Newtown will gathering in the community square in preparation for the launch of 'Friday Night Vibes' — an event that will take place for the next eight consecutive Fridays at 6-8pm.

Supported by the City Of Sydney, the nights have been created to encourage Newtopians and visitors to linger in the Newtown Square (opposite the railway station) to enjoy a night full of suitcase markets, live music, chill out spaces and free popcorn. The event is intended to promote the quirkiness and diversity of Newtown, attracting visitors from around the city and supporting local artists.

The project is funded by a City Of Sydney grant in order for the council to tackle down on anti-social behaviour in the thriving creative hub. The City also intends to create a strong night-time economy in Sydney, establishing 'Friday Night Vibes' as one of their first steps of action.
