Frank Ocean, Diplo & Members Of The Clash Team Up For New Song

A little out of left-field, but pretty great.

A rare new appearance from alt-R&B superstar Frank Ocean has surfaced as the ninth part of Converse's Three Artists One Song initiative, which looks to bring disparate musicians together to create new music. This one sees Ocean joined by none other than Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash and producer du jour Diplo for a tune by the name of Hero.

It's a little bit doo-wop, a little bit R&B, a little bit electro and a little bit rock'n'roll; but somehow it has all come together sounding pretty tidy indeed. Have a listen to the collaboration here:

There's also been a video posted that shows Diplo in conversation with the two members of The Clash, discussing a bit about the process and how the song came to be.

Diplo says that the group worked on a few different songs, perhaps suggesting this won't be the last we hear from this collaboration, but that the song that has eventuated was the one that came together quickest and which sounds most like what a Clash song would be in 2014. We've got no doubt there'll be some passionate fans who'd disagree with that observation, but that's bound to happen.
