Former Black Flag And Misfits Member Dez Cadena Diagnosed With Throat Cancer

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help his recovery.

Former Black Flag and Misfits guitarist/vocalist Dez Cadena has been diagnosed with throat cancer.

A GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign has been set up by some of his friends in effort to raise $35,000US to help offset some of the medical bills and help the punk icon on his road to recovery.

“Dez has just finished debilitating radiation treatments, and is confident he will return to active performance again within a year,” a statement on the campaign reads.

“So Dez has had to take a long break from touring and recording and he had no other income to pay for the quite expensive treatments and doctor's bills.”

Earlier this year, Cadena took to social media saying doctors had removed a malignant stage one neoplasm from his larynx.

“I have been going through some health problems, but I have been taking care of this situation,” he posted in march.

“If you want to go through all this type of medical fun, smoke 'em if you got 'em. Please no sympathy massages, that's not punk rock.”
