Footstomp Music Puts New Zealand In Its Sights For Oz-Based Artists

The multi-faceted music company is looking to secure Kiwi coverage for its local acts

Respected Australian industry services organisation Footstomp Music has announced its intention to further deepen its connection with New Zealand by including the island nation in the scope of its project management operations.

Having already worked with New Zealand-based artists such as ShihadThe Naked & FamousHollie Smith and Shapeshifter, Footstomp is looking to secure Kiwi coverage for many of its east-coast-based Australian acts.

Footstomp founder Graham Ashton says that the country represents a genuine, oft-untapped opportunity for local artists, especially given that "it's really cost-effective for Australian artists based on the east coast of Australia to tour in NZ", he says. "It also opens up a whole new realm of music media."

Part of the expanded operations will see Footstomp personnel make quarterly trips across to New Zealand, adding to their presence in the local market through existing publicity pursuits, as the company said in a statement that it believes that "it's time for relevant independent Australian artists to have the opportunity to include New Zealand in their strategic touring and release plans".

It's not just hot air — so far, Ashton says, "We have secured national airplay for Australian artists such as Ash Grunwald, Luke Yeoward and Eden Mulholland, and have had some great tour publicity wins when our artists have toured.

"Most importantly, we have a deep connection with the NZ music community and being a part of it brings us joy."
