"With this festival, we’re showing that trans and non-binary voices are among the strongest and most powerful in the country," TRANSGENRE's co-directors said.

After making its electrifying debut in 2023, TRANSGENRE returns with its highly anticipated Volume II this September.
The Sydney-based festival, founded by co-directors Ellie Robinson (she/her) and Tim Blunt (they/them), is a celebration of transgender and non-binary talent from across Australia. For its second outing, this year’s event will be headlined by fast-rising star Flowerkid, who’s set to release his long-awaited debut album soon.
Flowerkid will be joined by an abundance of talent, with local star Alex The Astronaut primed to perform an ultra-rare, solo acoustic set. Indie-pop outfit FVNERAL—who recently debuted their new line-up at the TRANSGENRE fundraising event, Gender Reveal—will also perform, alongside experimental artist Noctica, hyper-pop sensation Dyan Tai, rap stars JUBAHLEE and Stokahr (the latter making their interstate debut), rock band Second Idol, emo group Perfect Daughters, and hardcore band Hunny.
The forthcoming event is an all-ages affair, with doors opening at 3 pm and the artists performing on a class-free set-up.

TRANSGENRE Volume II will take over Sydney’s Red Rattler Theatre on Saturday, 27 September. Tickets are on sale now via Humanitix.
In addition to music, the TRANSGENRE team has joined forces with LGBTQIA+ organisations and businesses to provide sweet treats, offer goodies from local queer artists, and more. The event is co-presented by Sock Drawer Heroes and will feature treats from vegan chef extraordinaire Eli Tillett (Their Kitchen).
Robinson and Blunt said of TRANSGENRE’s epic return, “Being a trans person in 2025 is, to say the least, exhausting – but now more than ever, community is vital. We believe in the power of joy as resistance, and hopefully, we can be a conduit for some of that joy with TRANSGENRE.
“We said the same thing last time, but the sentiment is even truer now: we need to be visible, defiant and thriving – and at the core of that is positive representation in all corners of society. With this festival, we’re showing that trans and non-binary voices are among the strongest and most powerful in the country.”
They added, “We hope this festival encourages people to pay closer attention to the wealth of gender diversity that exists in the Australian music industry, and be louder in supporting it. There are SO MANY incredible trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming artists who fly under the radar because they don’t have the same resources as their cis counterparts – and we’re here to change that.”
